La Roche Posay Mela DLa Roche Posay Mela D is a product that can be found through online distributors or specialty skin care stores. The product is for use on the face. La Roche Posay Mela D contains 2% hydroquinone. Those looking to fade age spots or other discolorations are good candidates for this type of product. La Roche Posay Mela D also provides LHA micro exfoliation and a UVA/AVB sunscreen.

La Roche Posay Mela D comes in an easy to handle 1 ounce tube. Users apply a thin layer of the product to the affected area or areas daily. This is unless or until the three month time limit showing no change, whereupon users are then recommended to discontinue use. While suitable for all skin types, La Roche-Posay strongly recommends getting the recommendation of a dermatologist or using their customized skin care consultation before using this product.

The active ingredient in La Roche Posay Mela D is hydroquinone. The properties of hydroquinone allow it to block the production of melanin in the skin. Age spots are merely the result of melanin in overproduction. However, since sun exposure promotes further melanin production, the UVA/UVB sunscreen provided in this product is a nice bonus. Effects stemming from prolonged use of hydroquinone in large quantities have prompted some countries to ban its use while others still allow the use of small dosages for very short periods of time. Hydroquinone is not recommended for use in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Once thoroughly absorbed into the skin, users can then apply makeup. Although used to fade dark spots, hydroquinone should never be used in the area under the eye. With the product being used sparingly and only on specific areas of the face, the mid level price range can be considered reasonable.
