Stretch marks are one of the most discouraging things after having a baby. Women can feel embarrassed, or unattractive because of their stretch marks.

Stretch marks can also happen if someone has gained a lot of weight in a short period of time. As the body gets larger, whether you're gaining weight or pregnant, the skin stretches to accommodate the new size. The stress and stretching on the skin creates scars. These scars are stretch marks. People get stretch marks everywhere, from their tummy to their back to their legs and arms. There are a couple of ways to get rid of them, but most people don't want to have a painful surgery.

Smooth the healing Shea Butter on any area of your body that has stretch marks and be consistent. Do it every day. You will notice the reddish or purple stretch marks fading to a much lighter color. Your stretch marks will not be as noticeable, and depending upon how bad they are, you may not even be able to see them at all within a month. Use your Shea Butter on all areas of your body. It works wonders for dry, tired feet and is known for it's anti aging properties. You just can't go wrong with all natural unrefined Shea Butter.

I apply a small amount of a shielding lotion before having my foundation on (MAX FACTOR, Color Adapt (Natural)), it keeps the skin hydrated throughout the day, foundation goes on smooth and stays on flawlessly for longer time. And the skin dooesn't feel so "tired" by the end of the day:).

I am curious to know about the experiences of men and women who have been long-time users of a particular skin care line. I read positive and ambivalent reviews of products and wonder how long term use works for people.

I have used a skin care line for 22 years. I am 46 and I can't tell you how many people are surprised that I'm not in my 30s which they have supposed. I count part of that to the products I use and the way I use them.

I remember when I was a teenager a woman selling an eye cream in a department store make the ridiculous claim that if women started using eye creams at age 14 that they would NEVER get wrinkles. Of course, that isn't true, but what can people reasonably expect if they use high quality products for most of their lives? My daughter is a teenager and I've started her on good skin care from the same line I use. She sees and feels a benefit and I'm happy that we both enjoy our products.

What has been your experience with long term use of high quality skin care?

May have to disagree with you there.

I never used lotions on my babies'. HOWEVER...I also didn't overbathe them either. Their particulars were cleaned with every diaper change and I washed their hands with mild soap every day. A daily bath for a baby is simply not necessary. I used the Mustela combo skin/hair cleanser for them. I would dilute it well, just a pea size drop for their hair, for example. I would also just put a small squirt in the water for the rest of their bodies. Both of my babies were breastfed and therefore seldom had diaper rash. When they did, I would use Aquafor after cleansing and really drying the area.

We now live in an area where the winters are dry and cold. My son, who is very fair, develops rashes. We put in a POE water softener system and his rashes decreased by about 80%. When his skin is dry, we us a borage oil lotion on his body and Dermalogica Barrier Repair on his face. They work wonderfully.

Thanks for your article. One additional point to consider for patients is the term "medically necessary" This terms only requires that the surgeon fix the problem. For example if you are have a breast reduction in order to medically "fix" the concern (back pain, groves in the shoulder) you will have tissue removed. No promise that the nipples will be even, the size will be proportionate or any other cosmetic concerns. I advise my clients that whoever pays for the surgery has the most say over how it is done. I'm an independent patient consultant for plastic surgery. AngelaSegal.com

Greetings!

I'm still experimenting, but so far the absolute best foundation I've ever used has been one I bought at the Prescriptives counter at Neiman Marcus at the Dallas Northpark Center just before my wedding day. It was one of those custom-blended foundations that Prescriptives offers, and I was amazed at the result. Even my husband, who normally doesn't like it when I wear foundation (mostly because the ones I've tried had never quite matched and made my face look too "off"), was surprised and pleased at how well it blended into my skin.

What was even more impressive was how much time and effort the Prescriptives associate spent on ensuring that he had the perfect match. I think I spent an hour in his chair, and we went outside at least 4 times to check my face in natural light after each test. Plus, he was just super-nice and friendly, without being pushy. When he was finally satisfied with the result, he made notes on the computer so that I could easily purchase the same shade the next time I came into the store.

Overall, I would say it was probably the best department-store makeup counter experience I've ever had. It was definitely not cheap -- I think I paid $50 each for foundation and powder, and I heard the prices have increased a bit since then -- but well worth the time and money considering how much of both I've wasted over the years trying to find the right shade elsewhere.

FYI...Clare Oliver died in September after battling cancer for four years. Here's a clip on the story on an Australian news site: http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,22410791-2,00.html.

Thank you for posting this video. I've been an avid sunscreen user since my early 20's and have been amazed at how devil-may-care so many people still are regarding tanning salons and sun exposure, despite the huge amount of info on skin cancer that's been available to the public for years.

I really love the Anthelios sunscreen and have used it all summer with great results. It is a very moisturizing sunscreen, so I could see how it might trigger breakouts.

Another great moisturizer I started using is Juice Beauty's Moisturizer with SPF 15. This smells so wonderful and makes my skin feel fabulous. I have also heard great things about Peter Thomas Roth's mineral sunscreen.

I am a huge believer in sunscreen everyday, every season. Great post!

I agree that you need to wear sunscreen every day - even if you are just in your car! I have tried Anthelios, and my only complaint is that it really made my face breakout. But I only tried one version of it, so maybe there are others that wouldn't do that. I use sunscreen with zinc oxide in it, since that protects against UVA and UVB rays too, and it doesn't clog my pores. I use the Anthelios on my neck and hands though!
