Prom Make UpIf your teen is going to the prom, odds are she’s spent months picking out a dress and trying on different styles of make up. Prom night is the time to let out all the stops and do it in style, but what style? Prom makeup runs the gamut of gothic to princess themes. You daughter may want to play the role of the sexy vamp, while you’re thinking peaches and cream. Don’t worry, it’s just one night and this is a time when all types of fantasies can be acted out in the transition from childhood to young adulthood.

Teen girls will often have impromptu make up parties between friends. It’s with their circle of friends that they try on new styles and add another persona to their repertoire of adult possibilities. They may not be thinking of natural beauty products, but they can be wonderful to start a great set of behaviors that seek to maximize beauty without adding harsh chemicals to themselves or the environment.

Some of the basics you will need for prom night are: foundation, lipstick, eyeliner, mascara, blush, and more. Sometimes teens will opt for novel fake tattoos and jeweled nails too. The entire idea of prom is to have one last splurge before they go off to college, so everything goes for makeup. Nail polishes and different nail techniques are very popular. You can have a French manicure or even add fake nails to lengthen what you have. Hair is often sprayed, primped, spritzed, curled, and more.

With the dizzying array of chemicals being used in the name of beauty, it’s nice to know that you can use some natural products in your prom make up. If you want to enhance your overall look, seek to enhance the natural health and beauty of the skin before applying cosmetics. There are a number of lines that help to clear acne and even skin tone, a problem with some teenagers. You can even get self-tanners that can give you a bronzed appearance without risking UV exposure. These take time to use and see results, so start early and experiment with the products before the actual event happens.

Regarding prom dress definitely check MakeEzine idea wearing duct tape dress :) The last piece you need is Prom Handbag .

Perfect Lash

Filed under: beauty tips — admin @ 9:26 am

Perfect Eyelashes

What would you do for the perfect eyelashes ? Would you get surgery to add hair? Would you use eyelash curlers that resemble instruments of torture?

How about just adding some beauty common sense and good products for a painless way to build the perfect set of eyelashes? It can be that simple and can make a dramatic difference in your appearance.

Lush full lashes are a sign of good health. Even in the great eras of the silver screen, movie stars would always have a great set of lashes, even if they were fake and pasted on. It focuses the attention on the eyes of a person, which are said to be windows of the soul. A perfect set of lashes can signal vitality and youth, as people who are younger tend to have fuller lashes.

Science, however, is helping those who may be past their prime to maintain that youthful look with products like Jan Marini’s Eyelash Conditioner and other great natural products too. These products not only seek to make your lashes longer and shinier, but they also protect young eyelashes from breakage and environmental stressors.

One of the main reasons that eyelashes do tend to degrade over time is because they are subject to many harsh chemicals in cosmetics and sometimes, even dyes. You should never dye your eyelashes. Use products that have natural and safe ingredients, and that can also moisturize the eyelashes too. Don’t stress your eyelashes too much with a curler. It can cause breakage. When using cosmetics or eyelash conditioners, brush the eyelashes and separate them to make them appear longer and fuller. Always remove makeup at night, including all eye makeup with a good cream that moisturizes as it cleanses. You should use one that does not add further harsh chemicals to your lashes.

Not many women realize the importance of right foundation, the truth is foundation is the canvas for all other makeup products and very often is the most difficult to choose.

Our answer is skin type and foundation consistency: cream, liquid, tinted moisturizer or powder.

Creamy Foundation

Liquid Foundation

Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation Not as heavy as foundation cream offers less, medium coverage especially great for dry skin types. Women with acne-prone tendency ought be looking for an oil free formula. If this category’s for you, definitely try Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation.

Tinted Moisturizer

The lightest consistency and lightest coverage, tinted moisturizers leave very thin layer of color. Some women prefer this type of foundation with sunscreen formula, example: LA ROCHE POSAY 50+ XL TINTED CREAM as it is very subtle and comfortable.

Powder Foundation

The most versatile form of coverage, depending on the applying tool you can achieve medium-light layer. Powder foundations are available in pressed or powder-based forms and usually are great choice for those with oily skin. Our choice is Avene Couvrance Bronzer Mosaic Powder.

Trendy Make Up - Black & Red

Filed under: beauty tips — admin @ 12:17 pm

There may be a bit of gothic glamour coming to you in 2007 in makeup trends that use deep blacks and reds. The emphasis is on the eyes with the lush look of long eyelashes, highlighted with black mascara and eyeliner. Kohl is used to accent the eye make up with smudges around the eyes. The lips are full and shiny, kissably wet and dramatically red. All of this sounds great, unless you have thin lips or sparse eyelashes. To take care of these items, seek out special cosmetic products to plump your lips and your eyelashes.

If you have sparse eyelashes, now is the time to condition them and help them to get fuller. Jan Marini Eyelash Conditioner will help those people with less than perfect eyelashes to build up the lashes. If you have to use an eyelash curler, do so sparingly and for special occasions, to avoid breakage. Use good mascara that conditions as you wear it. Don’t be shy about using the blackest shades, as you want that smoky look around the eyes. Use kohl to smear around the eyes to get that dark look which is very trendy right now.

The lips should also have fullness to them and can be made to shimmer with lip-glosses. If you have thin lips, you can try some lip conditioners that use collagen to plump the lips. They are sometimes referred to as lip plumpers. You can put the gloss on top of a conditioner. Rosy colors work well during the day and you can save the deep reds for evenings. Although the look of dark, smoky eyes with deep red may seem a bit vampish, it can be modified slightly to produce a different effect, if that’s not your style. Instead of dragging the eyeliner up on the eyes, choose to have it come down at the corners. This will give your eyes a doe-eyed appearance.

Lip Augmentation

Filed under: beauty tips — admin @ 8:55 pm

Full lips are a sign of beauty and youth in many cultures. Your lips actually become thinner as you age. Fine lines and wrinkles can appear around the mouth area as well. There are a number of different ways to get the look of full kissable lips, while reducing the fine lines above the upper lip, from lip augmentation surgery to cosmetic products. Cosmetic surgery can include methods like implants and injections. Cosmetic products seek to plump the lips through chemical means. Either way, the result can be a hit or miss process.

By far, the most popular way to augment the lip area using surgery is by injecting fillers. These fillers can be natural or synthetic compounds that are used to give the lip a fuller appearance. They last about three to six months. They are not permanent and can result in numerous complications. Some of the potential complications are: lumps, allergies, hardening, infection, numbness, stiff lips, swelling, and scarring. Cosmetic implants, like Gore-Tex or Softform implants, which come in strips and are slipped into the lips through an incision made inside the lip. They are permanent because they are not absorbed into the skin, like the fillers. They can have many of the same complications as the injected fillers; however, they can be removed if the body rejects them.

There are cosmetics sold that are sold as “lip plumpers.” They are typically infused with collagen, which is applied to the skin either as a separate product or as a colored lipstick. The effects of lip enhancement cosmetics are temporary and only last as long as the lipstick is applied, however, there are some that are said to produce cumulative effects. The advantages are that there is no post-operative recuperation period and the cosmetics are less expensive than surgery.

Appropriate Lipstick Color

Filed under: beauty tips — admin @ 4:09 pm

If you’ve ever been to a cosmetics counter, you know how maddening it can be to pick the appropriate lipstick color out of all the choices that are available. The truth is that the reason there are so many choices is that the appropriate lipstick color for one person, can obviously fall flat for another person. This is due to our skin tone as well as our other facial features like the color of your hair. Even when you want to match your lipstick to a particular outfit, the main considerations will be how it looks on your face, not how it matches your dress. In addition, one has to take into account the season and what colors are in style as well as the time of day one is wearing the lipstick.

Matching Your Skin Tone

This is probably the most important aspect of picking the appropriate lipstick color. Your skin tone is usually determined by genetics. Asians have a yellow-hued skin tone, while Caucasians can vary in lightness. Dark-skinned people have many different shades of skin tone and so one product definitely isn’t the appropriate lipstick color for all.

Fortunately, it isn’t that hard to know what colors best complement the different types of skin. Fair-skinned people work best with tans and beige tones with a hint of orange or pink. Sometimes very light plums work very well for very light-skinned people. Darker-skinned people can wear rich, bright dramatic colors fairly easily like red or a deep plum color. Asian women may find the appropriate lip color to be warm tones while olive-skinned people should stick to brownish mixes.

Take into account your hair color, if you’ve dyed it recently. The same make-up you wore before you dyed your hair can clash afterwards, particularly if the change is dramatic.

Following The Seasons And Times

It’s important to update your make-up every season as you update your wardrobe. Although it’s not a crime to wear pale, glossy lipsticks during the winter, they tend to look out of place. Dark, rich colors are more suitable for winter, with light paler shades reflecting the carefree and fun attitude of summer.

You also have to take into account the lighting. At night, a pale, light-colored lipstick would not be an appropriate lipstick color. It may be drowned out by harsh indoor lighting or totally lost if the lighting is poor, like candlelight. Stick with more dramatic colors for night and lighter shades for day.

Lipstick Trends In Fashion

Almost every season, there is some “hot” color that comes out. You can experiment and have fun with fashion trends. However, keep in mind that a fashion trend is not a law and it may not be the appropriate lipstick color for your skin tone. It’s great to add dazzle with glitters and glosses, or try an outrageous color every now and then. But, when the fashion trend is over, make sure you know what looks best on you and keep some classic lipstick color choices in your head whenever you are sitting at the cosmetic counter wondering what the appropriate lipstick color is for you. Knowing this can save a lot of time and stress, and help you to build on a successful repertoire of beauty colors that work for you.

Make Up Removal Alternatives

Filed under: beauty tips — admin @ 4:38 pm

Sometimes in the glee to get a new look, we forget we have to eventually remove all that make up from our faces with something. That “something” can end up being harsh and uncomfortable for sensitive skin, not to mention expensive. Certain types of make up are also harder to remove than others, like mascara. This can cause you to buy one product to remove make up from your face and another for your eyes. If these products contain additional chemicals or alcohol, you may be removing the make up but unnecessarily stressing the skin. Alcohol is drying and chemicals can cause irritation and acne breakouts. So what are some good alternatives and gentle ways to remove make up.

Jojoba oil is an all-around great make up remover. If your skin is dry, this can make an excellent moisturizer too. Soak a cotton ball with it and it will remove eye make up safely and gently. It has an added bonus of conditioning your lashes while you are doing it too. Olive oil is another great cleansing oil. It is non-comedogenic and easily removes grime and dirt; however, some people don’t want to smell like olive oil after they remove their make up.

Some companies actually manufacture products with great all-natural ingredients that are safe and gentle to the skin. The Body Shop makes a Chamomile gel that works very well and can be bought through their stores. Clinique, a line of cosmetic products that goes through a rigorous testing process to make non-comedogenic and irritant-free products for sensitive skin, has one called Take The Day Off. It has won an award and is even said to be safe for people who wear contacts. It comes in a balm that melts when applied to the skin. It has no fragrance so as not irritate sensitive noses as well.

Does Mature Skin Require Different Care?

Filed under: beauty tips — admin @ 2:07 pm

No one wants to admit that they are aging, but the signs can be hard to ignore. For women, being over 40 may start the slow march to menopause. This time of their life will bring hormonal fluctuations that affect their skin quality. Men may not have menopause, but their skin can also begin to show the signs of premature aging due to environmental factors like excessive sun or chemical exposure. It may come as a surprise to some people to even experience acne as they advance in age, but that can also be quite normal. Having a daily skin beauty routine and protecting it with products that are safe and natural can do a lot to promote a youthful appearance. The skin changes over time, and what were the problems of youth disappear and new issues can take their place. If you are prepared for what some of those changes might entail, you can change your skin routine to make the skin appear younger, firmer, and with a better tone as you age despite the years going by.

One of the things that has been scientifically proven to age skin is excessive sun exposure. If you were a beach bum during your younger years, now is the time to pull back and start protecting the skin. All those years of lying out in the sun will show up as wrinkles and premature aging on your skin. This is because sun exposure causes free radicals to go about your skin wreaking havoc. If you want to start reducing the visible effects of sun exposure, you need to start including products in your daily beauty routine that include SPF sun block with UVA and UVB protection. You should also add creams that can moisturize the skin, as the skin becomes dryer as you age, and add antioxidants, which are known to hunt down and remove free radicals. These antioxidants are high levels of natural vitamins that can also nourish the skin.
